Mississippi Avenue is home to a variety of unique shops, including vintage clothing stores, independent bookstores, record shops, and artisanal food markets.
For all of your pet care needs, you can visit Salty’s right downstairs from HSID, which has a wide variety of treats, toys and more!
Check Out the Street Art
Mississippi Avenue features colorful and eye-catching murals and street art, which can be found on many of the buildings along the street.
Enjoy the Food
Portland, Oregon is known for our Foodie Culture. There are many great restaurants and food carts on Mississippi Avenue, serving up everything from Southern cuisine to Mexican food to artisanal pizza.
Our Portland students love taking their lunch break over at the Mississippi Marketplace which has an abundance of local food carts, picnic tables and a roaring fire all day.

Right down the street from Heritage School of Interior Design is Mississippi Studios – an intimate music venue which is a popular spot for live music, with a diverse lineup of local and national acts. You can also enjoy their outdoor space and stay warm next to the fire.
