Ever since she was a child, Lindsey had a passion for art and design. Like many future designer’s, Lindsey was constantly rearranging her bedroom and producing “grand reveals” of newly designed rooms to surprise her parents returning home from trips.
From a young designer, Lindsey went on to complete her undergraduate degree in Communication and Nonprofit Leadership & Management from Arizona State University, and briefly attended Dublin City College to study International Communication and Marketing. While still completing her undergrad, Lindsey worked in the event industry, marketing/ PR for an art gallery in Scottsdale, AZ. Upon graduation, she accepted a Marketing management position working for a large multi-specialty healthcare clinic in Bend, Oregon.
Though she enjoyed aspects of these career paths, Lindsey ultimately felt unfulfilled because,
“I knew that I was never truly leaning into my artistic tendencies and taking on the risk of seeing what I could do with my natural instincts for design.”
Ultimately, Lindsey wanted to pursue a career where she could expand upon her creative outlets, help people, and impact society. She says,
“I think we often overlook how impactful small, everyday changes in someone’s space can be over the course of time. I find it so amazing how drastically interior design can change someone’s entire world by simply creating a more thoughtful space for them.”
Beyond human connection, Lindsey also draws inspiration from nature. She is an avid hiker and adventurer and has always been in awe of the world’s beauty. She is greatly inspired by the different color palettes and unique characteristics every landscape has to offer and seeks to bring nature’s beauty into all her design work.
While attending Heritage, Lindsey’s biggest challenge to overcome was allowing herself to finally take the leap and try something new. Especially with an artistic career, it can be intimidating to leave behind a stable job and rely on your natural abilities to take you where you want to go. Lindsey credits Heritage for opening so many doors for her. Although the many options seemed crippling at the time, today she finds it wonderful to know that there are so many avenues that she can follow through her design career.
During her last few months in the Master Certification program at Heritage, Lindsey landed a job as an Interior Designer for Airbnb. Lindsey feels this is the,
“absolute perfect job for me as I am able to interact with hosts and satisfy that desire for human connection and communication with design and my love for travel. Additionally, I have loved that this job allows me the opportunity to reach a more approachable audience and offer suggestions to everyday people”.
No matter where her future career path takes her, Lindsey is forever grateful for the opportunities and networking connections that Heritage has provided her with. She says taking the leap and attending Heritage has truly changed the trajectory of her life and that she could not be happier to have made this decision so early on.
We are so proud of Lindsey and also can’t wait to see what is next in store for her!
