PATTERN PRINTING | Portland

COURSE OVERVIEW

In this 5-session series you’ll learn all the basics of screenprinting, and then expand to large repeating patterns. No experience with screenprinting is necessary in order to be successful in this course, we start from the ground up. Image prep, screen prep, printing, and cleaning are all covered on day 1 and after that we apply those skills to repeating patterns: how to create a pattern using digital and analog methods and how to print that pattern onto a flat surface, designing your own textiles, wallpaper, wrapping paper, upholstery, tapestries, draperies, and much more. The final session for this series will include a critique of each students’ two designs on paper and fabric. This course includes one month of studio membership to the ADX Printshop. It is required that you to come in during scheduled studio time to work on your project outside of class.

Students who enroll must sign up for one of the regularly scheduled New Member Orientations at ADX before or after the series starts.

Prerequisite: Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator

We foster a non-competitive collaborative environment where everyone’s thoughts, creativity and designs are valued.
