The Rising Star Scholarship recognizes designers in the Master Certification Program at Heritage School of Interior Design in Portland, Oregon. Kush Rugs founders Rebecca Lurie and Brian Robins were both awarded academic scholarships that enabled them to pursue their passion. It is their intention to pay it forward and assist the next generation of interior designers.
There will be three scholarships per year – one per cohort (Fall, Winter, Spring) available to all Portland Master’s students who have completed the Fundamentals class. Scholarships are $750 and will be matched by Heritage for a total value of $1,500 to the student.
Kush will award the scholarship at their discretion based on a 300 – 500 word essay. Students may choose one of the following topics.
Discuss the relationship between design and culture / society
How can design be a force for change and / or progress?
How can design impact our city?
Students may include a resume and/or letter if desired.
Student must be enrolled in the Master Certification Program
Student must be in the process of completing the Fundamentals Program or must have already completed it
Student must complete and submit the application
