A mother of twins, loving wife, and successful Interior Designer!
Amy Pearson graduated from Heritage in the summer of 2015 and we are so proud of all that she has accomplished since then! She recently spoke on a panel of design professionals at Heritage and we are excited to share her story with you.
Amy’s passion for interior design began as a young girl after listening to the architect and designers involved in her parent’s major home remodel. At every opportunity during the project Amy asked questions, constantly seeking to understand every aspect of the build and why decisions were made.
Though life took Amy down several different paths, her passion for interior design never faded. After graduating college, getting married and staying at home with her two beautiful children, Amy finally decided it was time to pursue her lifelong dream. As a wife, and a mother of boy and girl twins, Amy’s family is her entire world! “Being home with my kids was always what had dreamed of and I treasure those years where they were my sole focus and dedication. However, in those years, I felt like I lost a bit of myself and my identity as an individual and as a woman. I was craving something in my life that was about me and for me, allowing me to be an independent, creative, and professional woman while also remaining committed to my life as a mother and a wife.” When her twins grew to an age where Amy didn’t need to be home all the time, she decided it was time for her to follow her passion and dream of becoming an interior designer. The Certification Program at Heritage School of Interior Design was a perfect fit for her, considering she already had a degree – she just needed that career focused education.
” I feel like without Heritage I am not sure I would have been able to pursue my dream of working in interior design. Heritage also helped me gain the confidence in myself and my natural ability as a designer. I left Heritage with the knowledge and confidence I needed to be successful as an interior designer, with incredible professional opportunities that I am thankful for every single day, with amazing friendships, a network of Heritage educators and other graduates who are an incredible support!”
Since graduating from Heritage, Amy has been working with Hannah Hacker, owner of Adapt Design PDX and also started her own design firm, Amy Pearson Design. Amy feels fulfilled working as a designer and is thankful that her design career allows her to have a good work-life balance. “Going back to work has definitely been a transition for myself and my family, and at times a difficult change. But at the end of every single day I LOVE what I do and I am so incredibly grateful for an opportunity to work in a field that I am so passionate about. Not everyone can say they LOVE what they do, and I have that blessing!”
Amy is committed to collaboration with her clients, respecting their needs, wishes, and stated investment plans to reach timely completion. “My projects are not about me as a designer, they are about the needs and dreams of the client. They are the designers! I empower the client, bring focus and cohesion to the design plan, and ensure the work gets done.”
