A Journey of Empowerment: Deepali’s Story of Passion and Purpose

By Heritage | Interior Design, Portland, Success Stories | 0 comment | 18 June, 2024 | 0

Deepali, co-founder of Filling Spaces, dared to dream big. Growing up in India, her passion for textiles and interior design was ignited by her surroundings and travels. Each unique product is a testament to her artistic vision, inspired by the vibrant colors and patterns of her childhood and explorations around the world.

After an arranged marriage brought her to Portland, Deepali’s entrepreneurial spirit refused to be silenced. She pursued her love for quality textiles, enrolling in the Heritage School of Interior Design and eventually creating her own designs. From humble beginnings in a 10×10 space with a single employee, Filling Spaces has blossomed into a thriving firm with 30 employees, empowering women across generations.

In an exciting collaboration, Filling Spaces has partnered with McGee & Company, a renowned design firm, to create exclusive textile collections that blend Deepali’s unique aesthetic with McGee’s sleek, modern style. This partnership promises to push the boundaries of design and innovation, further solidifying Deepali’s legacy in the industry.

Deepali’s story is one of triumph, inspiration, and the power of community. She has not only created a successful business but also a legacy that transcends borders. Her sister, co-founder and confidante, stands as a testament to the unbreakable bond of sisterhood. Together, they have created a haven where art meets purpose.

As we sat in her studio, surrounded by the fruits of her labor, Deepali’s daughter sat beside us, beaming with pride. She spoke of the inspiration she draws from her mother’s art, watching as it transforms into beautiful fabrics that tell stories of their own. It was a poignant reminder that the impact of Deepali’s work extends far beyond the textiles she creates.

Filling Spaces is more than just a business – it’s a testament to the power of empowerment. Deepali’s journey is a shining example of what can be achieved when passion, purpose, and community come together. As we left the studio, we carried with us a sense of awe and inspiration, reminded that even in the darkest of times, the light of determination and creativity can overcome any obstacle.
