Janis is a longtime instructor at Heritage School of Interior Design, where she has guided and inspired generations of students through her passion for interior design and her personable, engaging teaching style. Her commitment to education and mentorship has made a lasting impact on hundreds of aspiring designers throughout her career at HSID.
A 1997 graduate of Heritage School of Interior Design, Janis began her professional journey as the lead designer for a major furniture showroom. She later expanded her career through her own independent design business, working closely with clients to create thoughtful, well curated interiors. Her professional experience also includes more than 20 years in training and customer service with 1st Interstate Bank, a background that continues to inform her client focused approach.
Janis has contributed to several notable show home projects, including the 2000 Street of Dreams in collaboration with Macadam Floor and Furniture, which fully furnished two of the featured homes. She was also part of the team that decorated the Galaxy Show Home, which earned first place for interior design in the Street of New Beginnings show.
More recently, Janis completed a renovation of her townhome, transforming it into a space that is distinctly her own. She continues to work on ongoing interior design projects for clients in Montana and remains actively engaged in the design community. A recent highlight includes attending Paris Interior Design Week with three fellow HSID graduates, an experience hosted by the Interior Design Society that offered fresh global inspiration.
Outside of her professional work, Janis enjoys traveling with friends and prioritizes weekly family time. Reflecting on her role at Heritage, she shares, βAt HSID, helping those who want to be in our interior design industry is my bliss.β
