10 Week Commercial Design Program | Portland

COURSE OVERVIEW

This 10-week course will introduce students to the world of commercial interior design theory, concepts and application, preparing them with the knowledge and skills required to begin work on commercial design projects.

For the final project, students will use their creativity along with new skills to design a commercial space.

*The Fundamentals of Interior Design course is required as a prerequisite for this course

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Successful completion of this course is based on satisfactorily meeting the following general learning objectives, evidenced by passing quiz scores and incorporation into weekly/term assignments and final project presentation.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the design process by implementing it in weekly assignments.
  • Demonstrate ability to produce construction documents for a commercial project.
  • Verbalize knowledge of commercial interior codes and/or cite proper resources for the codes.
  • Demonstrate understanding of commercial grade products, furniture & materials by making appropriate selections for term design project.
