The Fundamentals of Interior Design Certification program provides students with the knowledge necessary to work as an independent Interior Designer or work within the Interior Design industry. Students learn about elements and principles of design, furniture history, floor planning, elevations, design styles, sustainable design, custom furnishings, selecting fabrics and materials, color schemes, window coverings, artwork, and more! They also learn about professional practices including business formations, communication styles and how to develop a business and marketing plan that will allow them to succeed in the field of Interior Design. The course ends with a client project and final exam. Heritage School of Interior Design is licensed and accredited through the State of Oregon Department of Education as a Private Career School. Upon completion of the Certification program, students receive a Certificate in Interior Custom Design.

This 6-week Intro to AutoCAD & SketchUp course orients the student to the fundamentals and use of CAD programs in the field of Interior Design. By the completion of the course, the student should have a working knowledge of creating floor plans, elevations, and sheet layouts in AutoCAD, and a basic understanding of 3D modeling Sketchup. This class is strongly recommended for any Interior Design career.

This dynamic 10-week course examines the unique and diverse disciplines within the progressive field of Commercial Interior Design. Learn the fundamentals and elements essential to produce and manage a successful commercial project from initial client meeting to completion. Explore innovative hands-on methods, processes and skills to design engaging interior environments that enrich spaces functionally and aesthetically.  Immerse yourself in the conceptual exploration of spaces that support programmatic and functional requirements.  Identify, research and creatively analyze elements related to performance, specifications, functionality and quality of space.

This 6-week course covers the fundamentals of starting and running your own design business that is uniquely tailored to define and meet your personal goals. In this course, you will create a strategic plan that is based on your unique capabilities and helps you to define and measure your goals culminating in the development and presentation of a business plan for your first year of business.

This 6-week Introduction to Kitchen & Bath Design course will give students an overview of the elements of kitchen and bath design through a combination of lectures and hands on activities. The lessons will cover planning and layout, cabinets, fixtures, appliances, materials and lighting. At the completion of the course students will have the basic knowledge to guide a client through the process of remodeling a kitchen or bathroom.

7 WEEK REVIT

This 7-week course will cover the fundamentals of Revit in a format that promotes information retention. Students will obtain a fundamental understanding of Revit Architecture as it relates to Interior Design and the skills and technical knowledge required to model, draft, and render small projects.

6 WEEK ADOBE PHOTOSHOP & ILLUSTRATOR

This 6-week course will provide students with basic Photoshop and Illustrator skills that can be used to create professional visual presentations. Students will learn how to modify and transform images by changing the color, lighting, and size of photos that can be used to build their portfolio.

7 WEEK FURNITURE DESIGN & FABRICATION – NEW!

Spring: Apr. 27 – June 8, 2018

In this intensive 7-week course, students will build a chair, bench, stool, folding chair, or another piece of furniture that can be used for seating. Students will have the flexibility to be creative and experimental during the design phase. Students should expect to gain an understanding of the design and building process and will learn to use“prototype” language. Three skilled maker facilitators will be present and can accommodate up to 10 students total.

7 WEEK ADVANCED SKETCHUP FOR KITCHEN & BATH DESIGN

This 7-week course is for students who successfully completed the Intro to AutoCAD & SketchUp Course and are looking to further advance their 3-D drafting skills with SketchUp, specifically for Kitchen & Bath Design. Over the 7 weeks of this course students will learn more advanced techniques tailored to aid in the designing and presentation of kitchens and bathrooms.

This 5-week course builds on the skills learned in the Intro to AutoCAD and SketchUp course. Students will learn to draw advanced floor plans, elevations, lighting plans, electrical plans, and furniture plans. By the end of the course students should be proficient using AutoCAD.

3-DAY STAGING CERTIFICATION COURSE

Sat – Mon, 9:00am – 5:00pm / $1,195
Summer: July 7 – July 9, 2018

This 3-day intense, content rich course will give you the fundamentals you need to get your staging business started. You’ll learn staging strategies, pricing formulas, how to select inventory, and how to work with Realtors and homeowners to produce positive results. Hands on exercises for consultations, assessments, space planning, color recommendations, surface selection, and accessorizing take your training to a “ready to go” state upon course completion. Interactions at two staging warehouses round out this “day in the life of a stager” training.
