       Comparing Schools

There are several ways to accomplish your design education. Things to consider while checking options for training are:

  1. Instructors: Jan Springer, Janis Howard and Susan Salinas are registered instructors with the Board of Education and have the design knowledge and experience to train prospective students.  Jan is a member of (IDS) Interior Design Society.  Jan works closely with the business community to assist in providing jobs for her graduates. The instructors work with area high schools "Job Shadow" programs for Students interested in careers in Interior Design.  Heritage School does not teach unrelated curriculum.  The curriculum is centered on interior design, product knowledge, sales and marketing and business skills.

Jan and Janis won 1st place award for Interior Decorating for
"2003" Street of New Beginnings

  1. Training Equipment: Projector and screen for use with color transparencies to teach color schemes, style, pattern blending, elements and principles of design and accessorizing. T.V. and VCR for video instruction.
  2. Heritage School of Interior Design is licensed by the State Board of Education in Salem and is governed by a state approved Advisory Board consisting of professional members of the design community.
  3. Training Manual: Heritage provides each graduate with a complete training manual of the entire curriculum. The manual is the unique program developed specifically for Heritage School by Jan Springer, Director. The manual is updated with new information and design trends before each class. group_1.jpg
  4. Heritage curriculum features industry speakers. Trade accounts are established for students in class. Accounts are set up without the need for a Dun&Bradstreet rating or previous industry experience. Major Trade Accounts are provided immediately as a service of the school.
  5. Graduates of Heritage are provided a complete industry trade resource directory. The graduates work directly with the vendor, manufacturers and workrooms for products and services.
  6. Heritage Club (On-line):  Graduates of Heritage are eligible for networking and consultation through emails with instructors and director. This service provides current job information, upcoming seminars, tradespeople referrals and product accessibility.
  7. Heritage classes are usually 12-16 students. This size classroom assures individual attention and is an advantage because of the personal networking for your new career. Most important is the opportunity to experience a well-rounded look at other students' design interpretations. Students learn from other students, as well as the instructors.
  8. Location: Heritage is conveniently located near Hwy 26, Hwy 217 and I-5. We are 4 miles north of Washington Square.
  9. Parking: Heritage has ample on-site parking for all students.
  10. Facilities: Park like setting with open courtyard for student use. Large open training room with floor to ceiling windows.  Comfortable, adjustable office chairs at large work tables. Separate kitchen and large bathroom facilities. Restaurants within walking distance: Togo's, McCormick's, Carl's Jr., Jack in The Box, McDonald's and Starbucks is next door. On-site kitchen with 2 microwaves and refrigerator.

Childcare is not provided by Heritage School but we do have close facilities that offer these services across the parking lot from the school.  For more information contact
